BRAND CONSULTING

We are proud to offer brand consulting packages that are ideal for small business and nonprofit clients who are new to the branding game or need a branding overhaul.

Preservation

Gerald & Joan is deeply rooted in the art of preservation -- the archiving of information that is most important to our clients. Preservation has many definitions, but for Gerald & Joan, it involves the act of pulling together facts, figures, photographs and copy to create a report, magazine, catalog, book, etc. that shares a story in a simple and effective manner. Small businesses and nonprofit organizations often need reports, booklets, newsletters, magazines and books that showcase their work, history and impact, but their in-house teams are often too busy to give these important projects the attention they deserve.

Clients seek out Gerald & Joan’s preservation expertise in order to ensure their completed project reflects their brand and overall vision, while also staying on budget. Preservation projects are completely customized to meet each client’s unique needs.

Preservation work includes: Annual Reports, Client/Donor Gifts, Commemorative Hardback Books, Community Impact Reports, Company Yearbooks, Corporate History Archives, Newsletter/Magazines, Product Catalogs and Recruitment Booklets

Design

Gerald & Joan is passionate about sharing good design with small business and nonprofit clients because we believe everyone should have the opportunity to tell the story of their business or organization in a focused, professional way. Our design style is not complicated -- we work closely with our clients to fully understand their brands before pulling together high-quality graphics and streamlined copy, and then we use professional graphic design programs to create the printed and digital pieces that most effectively showcase their brands. Our end goal is always to create a cohesive look for all materials -- from logos to collateral to social media icons to websites. We like to be strategic in our design approach because we want to build long-lasting relationships with each client and become a true partner on all things related to their brand’s marketing, design and communication.

Design work includes: Collateral, Logos, Media Kits, Product Packaging, Posters, Signage, T-shirts, Web Banners and More

Brand Consulting

In addition to Gerald & Joan’s “a la carte” services under Preservation and Design, we also offer an array of Brand Consulting packages. These packages, which were specifically created with nonprofits and small businesses in mind, are ideal for clients that are new to the branding game or need a branding overhaul. The packages allow us to develop the cohesive look and feel that we recommend for all branding projects. They also give us the opportunity to work closely with clients to engage with their brands, discover their likes and dislikes with their current marketing materials, and create a series of designs that allow them to immediately make a statement to their target audiences. For clients who are unsure of their marketing needs, we are happy to review all of your materials during our initial consultation phone call and then make specific recommendations for you.

Brand Consulting work includes the following packages: Brand Development, Client/Volunteer Welcome Kit, Donor Cultivation, Email Marketing, Media Kit, Nonprofit Promotion, Small Business Promotion, Small Business Retail, Social Media, Website Design and More

Initial Consultation

In order to tell your story, Gerald & Joan needs to hear your story! This initial meeting will take place over the phone. We’ll discuss your ideas for the project, review any inspiration you might have, and cover key information such as your ideal budget, design specs, timeline and preferred delivery.

Booking & Concepting

Following the meeting, Gerald & Joan will send a proposal and contract detailing our scope of work, payment schedule and expectations. Once the contract is signed and the non-refundable retainer is received, clients are added to the design schedule. Typically, there is a short wait-period until a project start date arrives. During this time, Gerald & Joan encourages clients to gather inspiration from their past, present and future to create a “storyboard folder” in Dropbox or a Pinterest board. This storyboard can include everything that feels like it could somehow play a role in the project -- copy, images, graphics, color palette, etc. We will chat again to discuss the more detailed vision for the project, and then the design work begins

Design Creation

Gerald & Joan will spend some time reviewing the client’s storyboard, and then we’ll put together a design layout called a mockup proof. The mockup is the base design that utilizes the color palette and design motifs the client requested during the concepting phase. We’ll present the mockup to the client, give them some time to provide feedback, and then we’ll go through two rounds of PDF proofs to get the design exactly how the client wants it. Gerald & Joan respectfully asks that clients provide feedback on proofs within five business days to ensure the project stays on schedule

Printing & Delivery

Once the final revisions are completed and the final design proof is approved, the project is sent to the client’s preferred printer. If the client ordered a physical proof of their design, they will receive it at this time. Once the physical proof is approved, orders will usually print and ship within 12-14 business days. Final payments are due upon delivery.

Pricing

Because every project is unique, we create a custom proposal for each client. If a client has a specific budget in mind, we are proud to be able to offer a variety of solutions to meet their needs. On our proposals, we always provide a range of hours needed to complete each project. This allows clients to request multiple revisions to their projects while also giving them an opportunity to set their “all-in” budget parameters. For example, one client knew they didn’t want to spend more than 20 hours on a project. We were able to honor that request and provide them with their dream website. It was a win-win for everyone involved!
